US authorities will expect the safety of Bulgarian airliners, so that they could be allowed to carry out flights to America again.
Bulgaria's Transport Minister Petar Mutafchiev said Sunday that if all went well, the flights to the US could be restored in four or five months. Three years ago, Bulgarian companies were banned from carrying flights to the US for security reasons. That made Sofia hire a special consultant, Robinson Aviation, to help local flight carriers improve their services. Minister Mutafchiev did not specify a possible time for the US inspection.
10/09/05 - Varna airport counts 1.5 mln passengers
The airport in Bulgaria's main coastal city welcomed its 1.5-millionth passenger for this year.
The lucky arriver was a woman from Finland headed to the coastal resort of Golden Sands.
But the number achieved so far already exceeds last year's by 16%. Last year, the Varna terminals saw 1.3 million travelers.

I have spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out the state of airfares these days and, as an agent, I can't tell you any better on when to purchase your tickets... there is no rule and there is no pattern. Even that we work with contracted rates they can change any minute. What we recently observed is that the base fare stays the same and the airport taxes and government fees are increasing.. As a result the end price fluctuate and we can not guarantee the rate. For that reason I am telling customers that I can hold the space and rate for you, but I can not guarantee that the taxes will stay the same. Right now the airport taxes run around 300 USD. How ridiculous is that!?! It's not uncommon for clients to find deals online and more power to you if you can! In fact, we often compare our prices to Expedia to make sure we can beat the going price ... if not, at least we will give you the same price. Good for our business is that the airlines are still keeping up high rates on publish fare to Bulgaria. For that reason you will hardly find any low prices on online agencies like Expedia. I will say that if you find a price that is a bargain, no matter where you found it, just go ahead and buy the ticket because you might loose it.
