The "Transfiguration" Monastery is known as Novachenski monastery. It is located in the Baktun area, near the Novachenskiya gorge at the Bebresh river below the peak Kreshta in Stara Planina.

The "Transfiguration" Monastery was founded during the Second Bulgarian Empire. It was destroyed by the Turks, and in the seventeenth century (1608) was restored by St. Pimen of Sofia.
