The building of the Pantheon in Ruse started in 1977 and the monument was officially opened on February 28, 1978 in honor of the hundredth anniversary of the liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman rule. The structure is located at the site of the early Christian church "All Saints", which was destroyed in 1975 in order to build the new structure.
Pantheon in Rousse was designed by a team led by architect Nikola Nikolov. It appears to replace the old cemetery in Rouse, that was transformed into the Park of National Revival. The entire structure takes a total area of 4456 square meters and its height reaches 20 meters.
Inside you can see the marble hall, in which are buried 39 prominent Bulgarian Revival persons. In parallel, in the Pantheon in Rousse there 453 memorial plaques in memory of the supporters of the Bulgarian National Revival - revolutionaries, educators, volunteers. Many of them connected their lives with the city of Rousse.
In the Pantheon in Rousse visitors can bow before the graves of Karavelov, Zahari Stoyanov, Panayot Hitov, Stefan Karadja, Panayot Volov, Angel Kanchev, Baba Tonka Obretenova, Toma Kardzhiev, Atanas Uzunov, Olimpi Panov and many other bright individuals from the Bulgarian history. In the middle of the hall, under the gilded dome, an eternal flame is burning. The building has a permanent chapel "St. Paisii Hilendarski "and documentary exhibition on the history of the church “All Saints”.
Here burns the eternal fire, reminiscent of the great works of the promoters of national liberation. In the Pantheon in Rousse are laid the remains of the first Ruse teachers - Teacher Tony, Nil Izvorov, Tsani Ginchev, Dragan Tsankov, who is the founder of the center "Zora", a participant in the church struggles and Prime Minister in the early years of free Bulgaria.
The Pantheon in Rousse is remarkable for its massive gilded dome. After lengthy discussions in 2001 it was decided at the top of it to be placed a Christian cross, and a small chapel "St. Paisii Hilendarski" was built.
The Pantheon in Rousse is open to the public every day between 9.00 to 12.00 and 13.00 to 17.30.
