Kavarna

Kavarna is a town and sea resort in Northeastern Bulgaria. It is famous for its clean sea water and beaches. It offers ecotourism and nature-lovers can admire the unique flora and fauna of the place. The great variety of fish, birds and plants contributes to the vast popularity of the place. It is not only the magnificent nature and landmarks that one can enjoy in Kavarna. There are also many cultural sites such as museums, temples, monuments, etc.

The most visited museum there is The Dobrudja and the Sea Display. It offers ancient anchors, ceramic pottery, ornaments, amphorae, coins from different time periods and paintings. The Town Museum displays Kavarna’s lifestyle at present, as well as in the past. There are exhibitions of traditional clothes and pottery, as well as weapons and tools. Last but not least, the Ethnographic Museum shows a typical nineteen-century house of a wealthy family which reveals the prevailing customs from that time. Another cultural site in Kavarna is the Church of Saint George. Besides, symbolic with their number are the twelve fountains which stretch as far as the port.

But there is something else which boosts Kavarna’s fame and it has nothing to do with landmarks and cultural sites. Kavarna has been the host to rock concerts since 2004 thus attracting thousands of spectators all over Bulgaria. Many prominent rock bands, such as Scorpions, Gamma Ray, Masterplan, Manowar, Black Sabbath, Destruction etc., have participated in the concerts and admit that the place is splendid.

In brief, Kavarna’s splendor is hidden in the natural landscape which captures people and provides a relaxing holiday for them. It also offers a cultural tour for the more curious tourists and great fun for rock-lovers.
