The house-museum of Peyo Yavorov was opened for visits on October 31, 1954. The domestic layout of the rooms take the visitors back to the first years of the famous poet. In 1973 an exhibition hall next to the original house was built. Photographs and original objects present the life and work of one of the most lyrical Bulgarian poets.
Yavorov's home in Chirpan became spiritual temple shortly after his death. According to contemporaries, yet in 1924 for the 10th anniversary of his death a large group of artists came to his house. A little later, Mina's - the elder sister of Peyo Yavorov, separated a room in the house for incoming fans of Yavorov. And now the exhibits there are about the same - iron bed with headboards, metal desk with inkwell with figure of a lion and a penholder. At a side is the portrait of Pushkin, who Yavorov himself cut from the Russian magazine "Niva" and framed it.
The museum is located in the center of the town and accepts year-round visitors from the country and abroad.
It is a center of the traditional annual cultural festivals in the city. Each year Chirpan pays homage to the poet's talent and celebrates the “Yavorov Days” in January that turn into a literary arts festival.
The yard is the soul of the house museum. It is covered with greenery and flowers, among which are artworks and sculptures of artists such as Mara Georgieva, Ivan Lazarov, Ivan Blajev and Dimitar Kirov. Many artists, writers and musicians visited the home of Yavorov. Among them are: Pablo Neruda, Nazim Hikmet, Desanka Maximovitch, Jan Koshka, Academician Dmitry Markov, Professor Georgi Gatchev, Ivan Dinkov, Professor Aleksander Manyko, Vladimir Vysotsky.
Major collections include personal items, family items, personal library, Yavorov editions, portraits and illustrations. In 2001 was donated to the museum was donated the sculpture "Mother of Macedonia".
