published on 19.03.2010British Airways’ cabin crew will move forward with their strike on Saturday after last-ditch talks with management broke down.
Strikes are planned for March 20 to 22 and March 27 to 30.
In a statement, BA said, ”We will continue to strengthen our contingency plans to ensure that as many customers as possible can fly to their destinations during the strike period. We know that many cabin crew will work normally in the days ahead, and we look forward to their contribution.”
BA has said that its contingency plans include 6,000 volunteers ready to step in, including 1,000 who have been trained. Also, the airline plans to hire charters and has arranged to secure seats from other airlines.
Tony Woodley, Unite’s joint general secretary, said on Friday that the union rejected the airline’s latest offer because it was a “worse offer than the one withdrawn last week.”

Yumruka Peak
Yumruka Peak is in the Balkan mountain range or Stara Planina, and it is part of Bulgaria’s National Park “Tsentralen Balkan” (Central Balkan). The peak itself is almost 6 000 feet high, there is a chalet nearby called “Eho” and to the west there is Vezhen peak.
