Art Gallery "Nikola Manev" is located in the center of Chirpan. Behind the painted facade of the house, built a century and half ago for the local Turkish bey (governor), extends a huge courtyard surrounded by lush boxwoods and wide cobblestone path leads to the next house where was born and raised Peyo Yavorov.
"The house of the governor," as it is called by the old inhabitants, now it is one the most beautiful old houses in town. In April 2000 the world famous painter Nikola Manev, who was born in Chirpan, bought it and turned it into a gallery. For this purpose, the house was restored and furnished with paintings by the author.
Friend of the artist - Iliya Delev, who lived many years in Brazil and is one of the founders of the Museum "Earth and Man" in Sofia, has given the artist's ten unique crystals from South America that are exposed in the gallery.
Periodically, the gallery organizes events in conjunction with the Municipal Art Gallery. The main priority of the gallery is giving additional impetus to cultural life in the city and promoting the work of local artists.
The youngest Cultural Forum "Free Spirit Festival", organized by the Art Gallery "Nikola Manev" at the beginning of September, is gaining more friends and it is transforming Chirpan into an European cultural scene. At the invitation of world famous artist, art lovers from the continent gather in the courtyard of the gallery "Nikola Manev", turned into an impromptu open-air stage on which to exhibit prominent Bulgarians artists. The forum ends with prizes for literature, poetry and art.
Since 2007 Art Gallery "Nikola Manev" in Chirpan is part of the 100 national tourist sites, it is included under № 71 with the native home of Peyo Yavorov in the city and the monastery "St. Athanasius" near the nearby village of Zlatna livada, considered the oldest monastery in Europe.
